On June 11, 2008, The Board of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) adopted a new Continuing Professional Development Qualification Standard (QS) and a CIA CPD Monitoring Policy. The new CPD QS is effective from June 11, 2008, with the first filing (based on the requirements of the CIA CPD Monitoring Policy) due on February 28, 2009, for calendar years 2007 and 2008.
To help those actuaries who would like to maintain their CPD data internally and then prepare a printed report for the CIA each year, I am enclosing a spreadsheet which contains my own CPD starting with calendar year 2008. The items shown in this spreadsheet can be used to help you prepare your own CPD report.
The layout for my CPD for 2008 is the same as the Summary layout shown of the CIA website. The CIA Tracking Tool requires a separate field for "City" and for "Country". However, the Summary on the CIA website combines City and Country to show "Location".
I have therefore prepared 2 sample worksheets in the CPD spreadsheet. The first sample is called "CPD Sample-Tracking Tool Layout" which has separate fields for City and Country and conforms to the CIA Tracking Tool layout. The second sample is called "CPD Sample-Summary Layout" which has only one field for Location and conforms to the CIA Summary layout.
If you want to import raw data from your computer to the CIA website, then (1) you must use the "CPD Sample-Tracking Tool Layout", (2) you cannot use punctuation marks except for "-" and ".", (3) you cannot use commas, and (3) dates must be in the format mm/dd/yyyy.
